It became evident within 5 minutes of our arrival that our room was located next to, or possibly directly over, the elevator's mechanical room. The elevator ran continuously through the night. Despite my extraordinarily pregnant wife's insisting that the noise ricocheting from the walls was really the rhythmic sound of waves crashing on a Hawaiian beach, there really was no rest for the weary. We were astounded at the agonizing frequency a motel?s elevator is used at 3am. I did discover that the floor right in front of the dresser was surprisingly void of any sound attributable to the elevator. Upon checking out, we were met by an unsympathetic desk clerk and another employee who apparently had never ?stayed in room 101? and would therefore be unable to know what exactly caused the disturbances. Fortunately, the desk clerk graciously agreed to give us an upgrade on our next visit to the Days Inn of Albany. We sure can?t wait to stay in the Deluxe Elevator Shaft Suite. We are, however, extremely grateful of the amazing service of the night desk clerk. Her assistance and understanding with our need for additional pillows was appreciated greatly.
